Who Are We?

The Vibe: Southall Youth Project addresses the challenges facing young people growing up in Southall through two complementary initiatives. First, The Vibe Cafe: a twice weekly youth group which provides a safe space for young people to meet and socialise together across two hubs, one in Southall Broadway and one in Old Southall, both hosted in church community halls and run by local volunteers. The Vibe Cafe is open free of charge to all young people aged 11 to 18. Second, ‘Onside’: a football project that takes sports activities and positive adult role models into local housing estates and other residential areas.

Overall, the project represents an innovative co-ordinated approach to the complex needs of young people in Southall through a combination of venue-based and detached youth activities. It promotes community cohesion by encouraging the interaction of young people from different faith and ethnic backgrounds and provides support to each young person, especially those vulnerable to gang involvement, to reach their full potential. The Vibe: Southall Youth Project is managed by St John’s Church, Southall Green, in partnership with four other Church of England churches in Southall.
