Educational mentoring

We strive to support young people outside of ‘organised group’ times. We are currently partnering with Refugee support network to offer ducational mentoring young people considered ‘unaccompanied minors’.

The cage football is fantastic; it’s a great engagement tool to get children and young people working together. The coaches are brilliant too -they’re enthusiastic, professional and always motivate and enthuse the young people/children.

The Onside session was a great and thoroughly engaged the young people in the cage football regardless of age or gender. It allowed the young people to work together in many different teams with each other and the leaders. The team are extremely friendly and very quickly developed a good rapport with the young people who were there on the day.

I think it’ll really help kids who’ve got nothing better to do, because kids with nothing better to do result in going in gangs. They just get into groups and do madness because there’s nothing else better to do.

This year 240 students in year 7 from Featherstone High School visited St. John’s during the Summer Curriculum Week, (hosted by The Vibe) Students were given the warmest of welcomes and were able to reflect upon the spiritual similarities that exist in Southall through engaging speakers and live music! The trip is a valuable opportunity for students to be enriched socially, spiritually and culturally by visiting places of worship.

A big thank you to the team for bringing the cage down. Everyone who attended our session had a great time, and it was wonderful to have something different for them to engage with. The cage creates opportunities for young people to work on both their teamwork and individual skills whilst also creating a platform to engage with other young people and workers. We would highly recommend the cage as part of any type youth event.
